Angeleno Storage Center

Angeleno Storage Center is a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project under development in Los Angeles County, California designed to safely store and deliver energy across Southern California.

WELCOME!

This website was created to provide Acton residents and others interested in the Angeleno Storage Center accurate, up-to-date information.

The proposed project site is located along Soledad Canyon Road, less than 1 mile west of the large SCE Vincent Substation, where Angeleno would connect to the energy grid to serve Los Angeles County and California.

RESOURCES

Learn more about how battery storage projects improve our energy system, from keeping the lights on during heatwaves to making Southern California’s energy grid cleaner.

Battery storage is proven, safe and reliable

Battery storage projects use proven technology that has been safely deployed throughout the national energy grid, from home garages to utility-scale projects like Angeleno. Battery storage projects are designed and regulated at the local and national level to protect public safety. As a result, fires are extremely rare and contained, without a single case of a fire spreading beyond a project’s safety perimeters.

Avantus only works with top-tier battery suppliers, with each project designed to meet or exceed the latest safety standards. Protection equipment and control features, including 24/7 monitoring, reduces risk and can turn off battery units in a timely matter if abnormal conditions are detected.

Avantus is coordinating with LA County Fire Department officials and will continue to do so throughout the planning, design, construction, and operation phases of Angeleno. This includes safety training and developing a comprehensive, project-specific emergency response plan maintained for the construction and long-term operation of the project.

Please see our Safety page for more information.

Angeleno Storage Center strengthens LA County communities

Battery storage projects like Angeleno are critical for grid reliability and meeting California’s clean energy goals. Angeleno would also directly benefit Los Angeles County by creating up to 450 well-paying construction jobs and generating over a half billion dollars in taxes, if fully built out, over the life of the project.
